Sacramento, California, received its first batch of “exported immigrants” on June 2, with a second batch dropped off on June 5. The first group was dropped in front of the Sacramento’s Roman Catholic Church Diocese’s headquarters via bus, while the second was held in a room at the Sacramento Executive Airport.
While the incident has all the earmarks of DeSantis’ September Martha’s Vineyard event, the proof isn’t quite as clear for these recent illegal exports. The flights seem to have originated in Texas but passed through New Mexico on the way to Sacramento.
Adding to the mystery, the illegal immigrants held documentation from Florida and were flown in via Florida-based Vertol Systems chartered flights. Florida governor Ron DeSantis has contracted with Vertol Systems in the past to organize and ship illegal migrants to blue states and sanctuary cities throughout the U.S. Vertol Systems is one of three organizations currently contracted to arrange the transportation of illegal immigrants to reach welcoming sanctuary cities across the country.
The illegal immigrants arrived in Texas through the border and were processed. After they were given court dates for their “asylum” cases, the groups were approached by a private contractor outside El Paso’s migrant center and offered jobs and transportation to final destinations.
Their court obligations can be rescheduled to any location, but many asylum seekers, if they appear at all, choose to keep their original dates and locations for their initial appearances. Some court dates are scheduled for more than ten years in the future, with migrants showing paperwork indicating court dates set for 2032 and 2035. It’s no accident that the court dates are scheduled so far in the future, as being provided with a court date allows illegal immigrants to legally live and work in the U.S. under work permits.
California governor Gavin Newsom said that he will be working with the Sacramento mayor’s office, as well as local and nonprofit partners “to ensure the people who have arrived are treated with respect and dignity and get to their intended destination as they pursue their immigration cases.”
The “intended destination,” according to Newsom, doesn’t appear to be Sacramento. This means the unwanted immigrants will be herded back onto busses and planes from the sanctuary city to become a problem for other states and cities.
The journeys of these illegals have given the Democrats a new catchphrase, “state-sanctioned kidnapping.” Newsom appears poised to level criminal charges against officials behind the events, pointing to California law which states: “Every person who, being out of this state, abducts or takes by force or fraud any person contrary to the law of the place where that act is committed and brings, sends, or conveys that person within the limits of this state, and is afterward found within the limits thereof, is guilty of kidnapping.”
As usual, Democrats pick and choose the laws they follow. State-sanctioned kidnapping appears to be a no-no, while laws regarding illegal immigrant invasions are allowed to continue.
In a head-scratching and wildly hypocritical moment, Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg stated, “Whoever is behind this must answer the following: Is there anything more cruel than using scared human beings to score cheap political points?” It is an odd position to take when liberals embrace whole-scale abortion of sacred human beings up to the point of birth.
So far, DeSantis is keeping quiet on his involvement, if any, in the illegal migrant shipments to Sacramento. In February, Florida passed a measure to expand the funding for DeSantis’s migrant-relocation program, but he is not the only one making waves. Texas’s Governor Greg Abbott has also sent thousands of migrants to progressive cities, including Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia. Texas has also sent busloads of illegal immigrants directly to the Washington D.C. home of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Harris was not amused.
The outcry of leaders of alleged “sanctuary cities” regarding the modest numbers of illegals being shipped into their cities proves that they are unaware of the irony and hypocrisy of their position. Claiming to be “overwhelmed” after a few hundred illegals arrive at these self-proclaimed welcoming sanctuary states and cities are disrespectful to the cities and leaders in border towns who deal with thousands every day.
Apparently, sanctuary cities welcome immigrants…to other cities, not their own.
As for the investigation into “state-sanctioned kidnapping,” the irony of the “human trafficking” claims from the left is yet another ironic and hypocritical political stance. The true human trafficking is occurring at the border, with illegal immigrants in physical danger from cartels and traffickers. In August of 2022, the profits of forcing women, men, and children into modern slavery were estimated to be around $150 billion per year.
Even liberals understand on some level that forced labor from border human trafficking is far different than the fate of illegal immigrants who sign waivers for transportation to sanctuary cities, whose very existence promises employment and freebies.
As Newsom and other California officials struggle to connect the dots between the latest shipment of illegal immigrants and Florida’s governor DeSantis, the point is still clear.
Apparently, sanctuary cities welcome immigrants…to other cities, not their own.
