Whatever happened to letting kids be kids? Homosexuality has existed for as long as the human race has existed. It’s simply never been thrown in our faces the way that it is today.
A new Scooby-Doo film has been released, and it’s official – Velma is a lesbian.
If you’ve ever watched the show, it’s always been kind of assumed. She was nerdy and was never interested in guys – a stark contrast from the beautiful Daphne who was always found flirting with Fred and with anyone else she thought could give her a clue.
We never cared if Velma was gay or not. As long as she was the best darn detective, then we loved her character.
The new movie is entitled “Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!” and it has become clear that Velma is, in fact, a lesbian. It’s an in-your-face attempt to push the LGBTQ+ agenda. If it was an adult movie, fine. But Scooby-Doo has and always will be focused on the kids. And there’s no need to shove lesbianism at the kids. And if you can’t agree with this, you have to ask yourself why it’s so important that kids be taught that Velma is a lesbian. It’s something they’ll find out as they grow up.
James Gunn and Tony Cervone have confirmed that Velma is a lesbian long before this movie came out. Both are active in various parts of the Scooby-Doo universe, with Gunn writing some of the earlier live-action films and Cervone serving as supervising producer on the Mystery Incorporated series.
It was confirmed based on suspicions. They were able to weave it in so that adults could read between the lines while kids remained unaware and naive.
Now, though, it’s being confirmed onscreen in such a way that it is being shoved at the kids. And it’s a cartoon, making it even more unacceptable than if it were live-action.
If you’re interested in introducing your children to a fully confirmed, out-of-the-closet Velma, the movie is available for rent or purchase on Prime Video.
